Each day, Amazon sponsors the Kindle Daily Deal and the Free App of the Day.
Amazon’s Kindle Daily Deal is a one-day only offer where a specific Kindle book for adults, one for young readers (children or young adults), a romance, and a science fiction / fantasy title have been hand-selected by the editors at Amazon and significantly discounted for today only. Amazon has recently changed it up and is offering an additional genre for the Daily Deal: today’s additional genre is Biography and Memoir.
Amazon’s free App of the Day can be utilized on a Kindle Fire and Android-based smartphones and tablet computers, and the app can be a game, utility, or who knows? Each app is offered free for 24 hours and, after that period is over it goes back to paid status and a new app is the Free App of the Day.
I don’t post these as often as I used to, so you may want to bookmark the shorturl links I have below so you can stop by the Amazon website to see what each day’s Daily Deal / Free App of the Day is.

Here is the Death and Judgment book description from the Amazon website:
In Death and Judgment, a truck crashes and spills its dangerous cargo on a treacherous road in the Italian Dolomite mountains. Meanwhile, in Santa Lucia, a prominent international lawyer is found dead aboard an intercity train. Suspecting a connection between the two tragedies, Brunetti digs deep for an answer, stumbling upon a seedy Venetian bar that holds the key to a crime network that reaches far beyond the laguna. But it will take another violent death in Venice before Brunetti and his colleagues begin to understand what is really going on.
Here is the Gandhi: A March to the Sea book description from the Amazon website:
Mohandas Gandhi’s 24-day March to the Sea, from March 12 to April 5, 1930, was a pivotal moment in India’s quest to become an independent country no longer ruled by Great Britain. With over 70 marchers, Gandhi walked from his hometown near Ahmedabad to the seacoast near Dandi. The march was a non-violent means to protest the taxes that Great Britain had imposed on salt-not the salt that the Indians could get from the sea, but the salt that Great Britain forced them to buy. Gandhi believed that peaceful protests were an effective way to challenge British law, and his peaceful but ultimately successful movement became known as Satyagraha.
Here is the A Spy to Die For book description from the Amazon website:
When Spy Meets Spy
Profile: Seasoned Assassin Guild Super-Sleuth. Talented enough that she can write her own rules.
Profile: Main investigator for the loosely federated Rover Assassins. Guided by a strict moral code, fierce loyalty, and a sense of duty.
More Than Sparks Will Fly
On opposite sides of a high-stakes game, lust lures two spies together in a passionate encounter. Little do they know that the heat of the moment would bind them, turning their worlds upside down. Hunted by deadly assassins, can the pair and their love withstand the onslaught?
Here is the Adulation book description from the Amazon website:
Celebrity screenwriter Danny Masters has the world at his feet. He’s dating a movie-star bombshell and his latest screenplay is a shoe-in for an Oscar. But he’s empty.
With few accomplishments to her credit, longtime bookstore employee Sunny Smith celebrates her fortieth birthday by setting forty goals for herself. Sleeping with her writing idol, Danny Masters, makes the list.
At the premiere of Danny’s new film, the two have a brief but enchanting exchange outside the theater. And after Danny insults the audience during the post-screening Q&A session, he’s thrilled to see Sunny in his autograph line. But as he gently takes her hand, Sunny spits Danny’s insults back at him.
The next day, to her horror, Sunny discovers a video of her tirade has gone viral. Instead of being angry, Danny is more determined than ever to find Sunny—and apologize. And once their lives intersect again, there’ll be no turning back.
Here is the How to Be a Womanbook description from the Amazon website:
Caitlin Moran puts a new face on feminism, cutting to the heart of women’s issues today with her irreverent, transcendent, and hilarious How to Be a Woman. “Half memoir, half polemic, and entirely necessary,” (Elle UK), Moran’s debut was an instant runaway bestseller in England as well as an Amazon UK Top Ten book of the year; still riding high on bestseller lists months after publication, it is a bona fide cultural phenomenon. Now poised to take American womanhood by storm, here is a book that Vanity Fair calls “the U.K. version of Tina Fey’s Bossypants….You will laugh out loud, wince, and—in my case—feel proud to be the same gender as the author.”
Free App of the Day
Today’s Free App of the Day is Trigonometrics , and this app is normally $0.99 in the Amazon App Store but is free for today only.
Here is the app’s description from the Amazon App Store website:
A polar graph is a math concept where the distance r from the center of the graph is determined by an equation. (r=1 would be a circle. r=sin(angle) makes loops)
Normally you start the angle from 0 and go all the way around to 360 degrees incrementing by some small amount. When you skip say every 80 degrees, you get something interesting. A Maurer Rose
Trigonometrics takes this maurer rose idea and puts you in control of every aspect of the design. The size, location, color palette, amount to skip, and a multiplier for the angle (to determine how many petals your maurer rose will have).
Change the size and location:
The first button allows you to pinch, tap, and drag to change the size/location. If you let go while pinching in, you can have the design continue to get smaller.
Change the rainbow:
There are basically 2 rainbow palettes. One cycles through all the colors in their proper rainbow order. The other will randomly meander from color to color. Continually pressing this button will give you different rainbow options.
Control the angle:
Press this button and pinching, tapping and dragging will modify the angle skip parameter.
Control the wave:
This button, with pinching, tapping, and dragging will allow you to change the number of petals your rose has.
This will clear the screen but keep all your properties.
Press the Menu button to save your image.
