Innocent Little Crimes – Free Kindle Book

October 16, 2011 by Michael Gallagher

Innocent Little Crimes by C.S. Lakin is free today from the Smashwords website, and you can pick up your free copy by clicking here or typing in http://bit.ly/nrBLrV into your computer’s web browser.

Category: Mystery

When you scroll down the Smashwords page, please be sure to choose the “Kindle (.mobi)” format as that is the one that will work on your Kindle.

Once you download it to your computer, you will need to transfer it to your Kindle, and you can click here to read my free guide on how to transfer content to your computer. This is the same guide I charge 99 cents for in the Amazon Kindle store, but you get it for free.

Here is the book’s description from the Smashwords website:

Lila Carmichael, outrageous, bawdy comedienne, is a rich and powerful woman in television. But, it’s not enough she has everything she desires; for fifteen years she has been obsessively orchestrating payback to five unsuspecting, former schoolmates—“friends” who played a nasty trick on her, and now it’s her turn for revenge.

Under the flattering auspices of a cozy college reunion, these unsuspecting classmates are invited to Lila’s private island for a weekend from hell where Lila forces them to play a vicious parlor game—a psychological “Ten Little Indians,” where one by one Lila’s guests are figuratively killed-off. Yet, revenge turns bittersweet when the weekend is over and one guest is dead.

A psychological spinoff of Agatha Christie’s “Ten Little Indians” that Publisher’s Weekly calls “A page-turning thrill ride that will have readers holding their breaths the whole way through.”

Buddy Holly Free Kindle Book

April 28, 2011 by Michael Gallagher

Here’s one that is a little different, and the reviews for it say it is more of a comedy: Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede by Bradley Denton, which is free from the ManyBooks website.  You can pick up your free copy by clicking here or typing in http://bit.ly/lLVsQH into your computer’s web browser.

This one is not available inthe Amazon Kindle store, but the paperback version is listed for sale at $39.99 at Amazon.  Strange.

On the right-hand side of the web page you will see the download drop-down menu; you can see they have it formatted for
many of the eBook reader formats so make sure you choose the Kindle version. Once you download it to your computer, you will need to transfer it over to your Kindle – that’s a fairly easy process.  If you don’t know how to do that, you can click
here
to read my free guide on how to transfer content to your computer.  This is the same guide I charge 99 cents for in the Amazon Kindle store, but you get it for free.

While you’re at the ManyBooks website, you may want to check it out as they have thousands of books in the Kindle format.

Here is the book’s description from the ManyBooks website, but please be sure to read the reader reviews:

When televisions worldwide begin broadcasting a nonstop, noninterruptible live performance by Buddy Holly purporting to originate somewhere in the vicinity of Jupiter, Oliver Vale–the apparent object of the broadcasts–finds himself drafted for a mission so secret that even he is not sure of its purpose. (Campbell Award winner, 1992)

Free eBook Website

April 14, 2011 by Michael Gallagher

There’s nothing new right now for free in the Amazon Kindle store I’ve been able to find this morning, although that can change at anytime, so I thought I would point you to a website to check out called Fictionwise.

Website: www.fictionwise.com/ebooks/freebooks.htmIronically, Fictionwise is a Barnes and Noble company (who produced the nook, a direct competitor to the Kindle that has a color screen eBook reader) and offers a lot of books for sale, but also has a section for free books they offer from time-to-time.  You will find a lot of authors you have never heard of before and will probably pick up a gem or two: I have over the past year.  The free eBooks come in a variety of formats for various eBook readers (not just the Barnes and Noble nook eBook reader).  Registration is required to download a book, but registration is also free.

Let me know what you think!

Free eBook Website

February 26, 2011 by Michael Gallagher

There are a lot of places that offer free reading content that can be read on your Kindle.  SynergEBooks is a small independent publishing house that (surprise!) offers eBooks for sale; they also have a large selection of short stories you can download for free.  The only caveat is the free short story content is in PDF format.

PDF format, you say?  Well, if you read the post I had about transferring PDF books for free to your Kindle it shouldn’t be a problem (click here if you need a refresher or in case you missed it).

You can check out the free content from SynergEBooks by clicking here, or type http://www.synergebooks.com/short_stories.html into your web browser.
