FKBT and its predecessor sites have been promoting Kindle books since 2008. How about promoting your free or discounted Kindle book to our enthusiastic subscribers and voracious readers?

Thank you for your interest in advertising with Free Kindle Books and Tips (“FKBT”)!

The majority of posts to FKBT provides a mixture of free Kindle book offers to both the Amazon Kindle store and to sites other than Amazon, featuring discounted or “exclusive” deals to the site’s readers, as well as Kindle tips in an effort to keep the blog’s participation at a high level. Our informal results and  feedback from our readers tell us they enjoy the mix, and the clickthrough rates and purchases of Kindle books for sale by independent authors support it.

What does that mean for you? A lot, potentially, as you can have your book(s) highlighted on the blog to our opt-in subscribers. If you choose to advertise, your book’s particulars will be sent out to just over 675,000 enthusiastic Kindle readers, including:

  • 600,000+ people accessing the blog via the free reader app for their Kindle Fire or Android devices (e.g., phones, other tablets).

  • 150,000+ people via email, social media subscription, directly on the blog’s website, or via an RSS reader.

Let’s be honest about web marketing: while the above numbers look impressive we are not going to try and fool you as the reality is although each day’s posts go out to over 750,000 people approximately 100,000 people take action (i.e., read a particular day’s post using one of the methods listed above) each day; it also does not mean we are implying 100,000 people will buy your book.

We’d rather be upfront with you about circulation numbers as we are not aware of, for example, any Kindle focused website truly delivering 100% of their hundreds of thousands of Facebook followers for daily posts.

Based on surveys and demographics over the last ten years, FKBT’s readers are primarily females in the USA ranging from 35 to 55 years of age. Please notice we said “primarily” as there are a lot of men and other age groups; 35 to 55 year old women in the USA make up approximately 45% of the readership.

Most books will be accepted, but it is easier to tell you what will be rejected vs. accepted.

If your book appears in the “Erotica” category, references to or appears to consist primarily of pornographic or graphic sex scenes, has a cover that suggests an overly sexual theme, a book description or book review suggesting an overly sexual theme, or if the sample of the book available online contains a blatant sex scene it will be rejected immediately. We will err on the side of caution with this one.

If your book appears to be of an offensive or controversial nature or subject matter, it could be rejected.  We will also immediately reject anything that appears to be a “get rich quick” scheme.

Unless your book is a new release (see the separate section / drop down a little bit further down the page), each book needs to have at least a 3.5 out of 5 star rating on the Amazon USA website from at least 8 customer reviews – and at least 3 of those need to be Amazon verified purchase reviews from the Amazon USA website; Goodreads, Smashwords, Amazon UK, or other sites’ ratings of your book will not be considered as the majority of our subscribers want to shop directly from the Amazon USA site. We do read the content of the reviews and will reject a book if it appears to be a paid or shill review despite having the Amazon verified purchase tag on the review.

We have written a summary that give further details on how we choose the books to promote: you can take what we’ve written with a grain of salt (or not), but we do have the experience of being successful self-published authors. You can read that if you click here.

Each day’s post will contain approximately four to six Kindle books offered for free in the Amazon Kindle store, and pricing for one of these spots is $25 each. You can reserve a Free Kindle Book Posting using the form at the bottom of this page.

Each day’s post will offer approximately four to six Kindle books offered for free in the Amazon Kindle store, and pricing for one of these spots is a flat $30 each if priced at 99 cents; if your book is priced higher than 99 cents on the day of promotion the pricing is $60. You can reserve a Free Kindle Book Posting using the form at the bottom of this page.

We highly recommend you price your book at free or no more than 99 cents on the day of promotion!

A Featured Book Posting is the only book in that post and it will be at the top of the blog’s website for a 24-hour period. A Featured Post is also at the top of the page for those blog readers who receive each day’s posts via email or read our posts on our free app for the Fire Tablet and Android-enabled devices.

Unless the title has multiple authors, we will also include a brief biography of you if it is on your Amazon author page, a link to your Amazon author page, and a picture of you on your Amazon author page if a picture is available.

The pricing of a Featured Book Posting is $100 if your book is priced as a free title and $125 if your book is priced at $0.99 or higher on the day of promotion.  We highly recommend you price your book at free or no more than 99 cents on the day of promotion!

You can reserve a Featured Book Posting using the form at the bottom of this page.

We also accept spots featuring new releases – in other words, the number of required reviews used with a Regular or Featured post are thrown out the window as this post focuses on releases that may not, as an example, have had the opportunity to collect many customer reviews.

Other than waiving the number of reviews, the other criteria regarding content, etc., are the same. There will be one New Release post each on Saturday and Sunday and it will contain a maximum of six Kindle book offerings in the post.  Pricing for one of these spots is $25 if your book is priced between free and 99 cents on the day of promotion; if your title is priced higher than 99 cents on the day of promotion, the fee is $50.

We highly recommend you price your book at free or no more than 99 cents on the day of promotion!

You can reserve a New Release Posting using the form at the bottom of this page.

Dates are reserved on a first-come / first-served basis and once we have reserved a date for your book we will notify you via email; please give us a reasonable amount of time to reply to your request due to the number of books submitted for consideration.  After we have notified you via email of your date, an invoice will be generated to the email address you submitted.  Payment is due within 48 hours of issuance of the invoice to guarantee your spot.

While we will make every effort to schedule you, if we are “full” on your requested dates we will let you know and try to book an alternate date if you tell us if you are open to the first available date.  Generally speaking, books promoted as ‘free” do much better than book promotions asking one of our subscribers to pay for something.

In addition to our website, each day’s post will be promoted in our daily email newsletter as well as on our social media pages (Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook) and our free app for the Fire Tablet and Android-enabled devices.

Our first post each day goes out at 4:00 a.m. Central (USA) time, and your book needs to be at its promotional price prior to that time on your promotion day. As Kindle Countdown deals can start later than planned due to circumstances beyond your control, we highly recommend you start the promotional price the day before: this gives you an opportunity to contact Amazon to make changes if necessary.

If your book is supposed to be at a free or discounted price and the pricing does not change, we will remove your book from the post and will not process a refund or move your promotion to another day.  You are more than welcome to schedule a new promotion.

Please note our site is devoted to readers using a Kindle eReader, Fire Tablet, or the Kindle app available for use on a variety of operating platforms.  We do not provide links to your titles on other venues such as the Apple iBook store.

When we email you confirmation of your book’s acceptance and the promotion date, we will invoice you immediately after sending the confirmation email.  Payment is due upon receipt.  We are more than happy to reschedule a promotion as long as we have five business days’ advance notice (ten business days for a New Release or Featured post) and if we have availability for your new requested date.  If you need to cancel your promotion, you can cancel it.  If you request a refund we will refund it but will not promote your books in the future.  If you do not pay your invoice, we will not promote your books in the future.

Many people have asked “why” we won’t process a refund or reschedule within the timeline mentioned above; the answer is we book in advance and we need enough time to be able to fill the slots.  We usually turn people away as we are fully scheduled the closer we get to a promotion date and do not have availability.  If the error is ours, we will do everything we can to make it right. We will provide a refund if we make a mistake.

We do not guarantee a certain number of sales or free downloads for your promotions, and do not offer refunds if you believe you had a poor showing, as a book’s advertising success is usually dependent on factors out of our control such as your book cover, book description, quality of a book’s reviews, genre, and pricing.  Our job is to provide the audience to see your advertisement; an author / publisher needs to make sure their title is compelling.
