The Legend Is BornAuthor: Gerald R. KnightGenre: Historical Fiction Regular Price:

Book Description:This faraway, pre-contact story begins with Helkena, a young, still untattooed girl enduring a typhoon crashing over the only island she has ever known. Her home is Wōtto, one of the dry, windswept atolls of the northern Marshall Islands. The newborn infant Ḷainjin has just been entrusted to her care by his mother, who has sailed her fleet of proas into the open ocean to save them from certain destruction. Helkena, having barely survived the storm, must now travel to Naṃdik, a wet atoll in the southern rain belt of the Rālik Chain. As Ḷainjin’s surrogate mother, she will sail with the infant by outrigger canoe in the company of his maternal grandfathers. These kind men had recently helped the Wōtto Islanders overcome the terrible drought that typically follows a typhoon. With the trade-wind season approaching, it’s soon time to complete their voyage. The grandfathers begin teaching Helkena the traditional navigational arts along the way. Her goal is to get her tattoos on Naṃdik and, in time, to find a man there to take home to Wōtto. She will need help to manage her matrilineally inherited lands, and she is related to most men in that small, dry world. But will she entice a man from the lush south to her barren desert island? Far from being a simple story, this colorful, romantic tale presents a surprising background to the lovemaking culture of the Marshall Islands. It also reveals the early years of young Ḷainjin, the hero of the Legends of Ḷainjin historical literary fiction series. Book Description:Furry Vengeance I won’t conceal the fact that when I found that inflatable pool in my backyard I was surprised to a degree. Inflatable pools, as a rule, contain water, you see, and everyone knows that cats don’t like water all that much. In fact we hate it. But Odelia had sworn she’d teach us how to swim, and she was keeping that promise, come hell or high… water. As if that wasn’t enough, Dooley and I were suddenly set upon by an irate pigeon, dive-bombing us each time he caught us in his crosshairs. And it wasn’t as if we could afford the distraction, as Odelia had taken on a new case, this one relating to a woman who went missing twenty years ago, and whose exact lookalike had suddenly turned up murdered in a local farmer’s field. Was the dead woman the missing woman? But then why did she look exactly like she did when she disappeared twenty years ago, not having aged one bit? It was a mystery Odelia found hard to resist. So there you have it: in between attacks from an angry bird, a mysterious cold case, strange messages found inside a goatherd figurine, a few instances of near-drowning, and an embarrassing mishap causing me to lose a large swath of fur around my midsection, it was all I could do to stay afloat, as it were, and assist my human. And just to put your mind at ease, I can assure you that no animals were harmed in the making of this book, except yours truly. Then again, I have no one to blame but myself, and in the end all’s well that ended well, and I will live to narrate another book. Book Description:When the lie is two thousand years old, who, exactly, will the truth set free? While analyzing parchment fragments from the Dead Sea Scrolls, grad student Susan Bauer pieces together text that indicates the existence of a stolen Secret Temple Scroll that was penned decades before the gospels. If discovered, this document could free the Jewish people from the centuries’-long blemish that they are responsible for Yeshua’s death. It could also turn Christianity on its head. From the basement of the Israeli Museum to a basilica in a picturesque French village to the ruins of Herculaneum, ex-Mossad Yigael Dorian and blacklisted archaeologists Valentina Vella and Erika Simone journey on a transcontinental chase, dodging thieves, kidnappers, cardinals, and enlisting mobsters to uncover the truth behind this rumored scroll. It is the writer of this document, however, who has the final word in a mesmerizing depiction of life in the Galilee alongside Yeshua.
