About the Author:
L E Kenzie lives in Austin with her Japanese Spitz dog that thinks he’s a cat, and her Persian/ Siamese mix cat, who has dementia and thinks she’s a dog, and her family. She writes every morning in her pajamas in a shed in her backyard, because it is where God and the angels dance, and its untamed beauty calls forth the infinite possibilities of the creative process, and because it’s an escape from her 1960s house, which reminds her of the old television series, “Green Acres.”
To her, writing is celebration, joy, meditation, prayer and truth.
She always wanted to be one of the Supremes, the 1960s, singing group. Yes, really. Since the timing didn’t work out for that dream, she became a corporate lawyer, and raging religious addict promptly forgetting who she was and who God really was. Like so many of us, she was told what to believe and did so to her detriment, never questioning why she believed what she did and if it was true. Her heart ached for those who those who brushed up against the McChurch phenomenon, who were hurt and judged by its cold theology instead of healed and helped. She knows that true spirituality is too important to belong to a few experts, but belongs to all of us,and that we all have something unique and important to say. Each of us is a parable. During a time-out from her law career, she started writing to relocate her own soul and spirituality and found her calling.
She makes no commandments or prescriptions, but merely suggests tools that worked and shares her gripping, and intimate personal experience of going from condemnation and living by rules and commands to freedom, confidence, and a more authentic spirituality that adapts to her life, because it is not imposed, but embraced.
She is an author, artist, spiritual blogger, poet, sometimes, singer, mother, wife, and Youtube video performer, sarcastic but earnest theologian and student of the heart and its intersection with the soul. You may like her journey and story, or her detox tools, or her penetrating and poignant poetry that charts her changing feelings of disbelief, betrayal, irony at finding herself in a Fast- Food religion and ultimately heralds her triumph over it.There is also some interesting and sound theology.
