It’s that time again, time for a rambling blog post where I have no set agenda and just start banging away on the keyboard, answer a few questions, and relay various pieces of information that come to mind. If you would like to write to me, my email address is Michael at fkbooks and tips dot com (I type it out that way in a small effort to frustrate the professional spam robots).
New 8.9” Kindle Fire HDX
I’ve been playing around with this new larger version of the Kindle Fire HDX for over a week now and I think it’s pretty good. Due to the potential length of the post, I’m not going to post the review I wrote for it here. However, if you would like to read it you can click here or type in http://smarturl.it/hdxreview into your web browser and read away. If you think the review was helpful, I would appreciate a “Yes” vote just underneath the review on the Amazon website.
I don’t much care for the Origami cover that is available for purchase for this version of the Fire. You can read why in the review I wrote for it if you click here or type in http://smarturl.it/hdxcover into your web browser.
“Regular” 8.9” Kindle Fire HDX
While the HDX version of the larger Fire tablet is the latest and greatest best thing, I don’t think anyone should underestimate last year’s model of the 8.9” Fire: it’s pretty darn good, and except for when I have been reading outside I have been using it for the majority of the time for the past year now versus my e-Ink Kindles. Amazon has discounted these down to just $229, which is the same price as the 7” version of the Fire HDX. I don’t know how long this reduced pricing will last, so if you’re interested in it you better jump on it now. You can click here or type in http://smarturl.it/firehd89 into your web browser to see if the sales price is still valid and get one now.
Candy Crush App
Several people have written to me over the past few months, wondering why the highly-addictive game of Candy Crush wasn’t available in the Amazon App Store. I don’t know what the delay was, but it is available for free from Amazon: you can click here or type in http://smarturl.it/waster into your web browser to get it for your Fire or Android-enabled smartphone or tablet.
If you’ve never played it before, I will warn you it is highly addictive! By the way, I’m on Level 136…
After I posted my review of the new Kindle Paperwhite, I’ve received a lot of emailed questions about it. Many of those I was able to quickly reply back to you with an answer, but I’ve received some of the same questions from multiple people: that tells me more of you haven’t asked it yet, so I will try to get a post our soon with answers!
Free Book Links
You know, there are other sites besides Amazon where you can pick up free books for your Kindle. You can click here or type in http://smarturl.it/FBL into your web browser to see a listing on the blog’s website to just a couple of places to pick up some freebies – just the ones from the listed sites should keep you full for the rest of your lifetime!
Black Friday Deals
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been checking out Amazon’s Black Friday deals every day. Sure, Black Friday isn’t official for about two more weeks now (which makes me wonder what the real Black Friday Deals will be). You can check them out, also, if you click here or type in http://smarturl.it/amazonbfriday into your web browser. And, here’s a tip: you can always hide some of these gifts from others if you ship them to your office vs. home!
That’s all I had for now – I hope you have a great weekend!
