It’s that time again…time for a rambling blog post where I have no set agenda, but just start banging away on the keyboard and see what pops out at the end. If you would like to write to me, my email address is michael at fkbooksandtips dot com (I type it out that way in a small effort to thwart the spammers).
Kindle Paperwhite Winner
The winner of the Kindle Paperwhite was Nikki from Nebraska – Nikki told me via email this morning she was shocked she was the winner. The Paperwhite has been ordered, and it should be in her hands on Thursday. Congratulations, Nikki!
If you weren’t the winner, don’t worry as I am 100% certain there will be another giveaway of some sort soon!
“Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer since to remain constantly at work will cause you to lose power of judgment….Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller, and more of it can be taken in at a glance, and a lack of harmony or portion is more readily seen.”
– Leonardo da Vinci
I decided to take the quote above to heart…while I am back now, for the past two weeks I have been on vacation in Europe! I did set the majority of the posts over the last two weeks up in advance – did you miss me?
My wife and I had a great vacation – without the kids – and flew to Prague and spent three nights there. We then took a bus to Nuremberg, Germany and boarded a riverboat / longship (and avoided the floods, thank goodness) and took a week-long tour along the Danube River and visited Nuremberg, Regensberg, Passau, and Melk in Germany; Vienna, Austria; and Budapest, Hungary.
I think this vacation was one of the best I’ve ever been on – I learned a lot of history, met some great people from all over the world on our river cruise, and have a lifetime of memories. I’m ready for the next vacation, but I’m not too sure my wallet is!
Various Amazon Links
I’ve received several emails from people asking me to re-send them various links to things on Amazon. In no particular order, here are themost requested:
Link to purchase items on the Amazon website and give “credit” to the blog: click here or type in http://smarturl.it/kbtblog into your web browser. I’d appreciate it if you would bookmark this one in your browser and use it to help defray the web costs for the blog!
The last link alone should keep you busy for a while!
While baseball has nothing to do with a Kindle, how about this season so far? I wouldn’t have thought the Angels and the Dodgers, with their massive payrolls, would be under .500 and it is good to see a kid from my small East Texas hometown leading the majors in home runs. The All-Star game is coming up, and I’m ready to see how the second half of the season turns out!
I hope each of you are having a great week!
