This Week's Informal Poll

February 9, 2013 by Michael Gallagher 100 Comments

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been trying something different and have an informal poll where you could interact and share your ideas via the comments section of the blog. I thought it would get a few responses, but I was blown away at the level of participation for the first poll – over 1,100 comments, and it has been the most viewed page (of all the pages) of the blog, ever.

If you missed the first few questions in the polls, you can click here or type in http://bit.ly/12dNfjz into your web browser to answer the questions and interact with the other blog members.

If you are reading this post on your e-Ink Kindle or received the post via email, you can always see this week’s poll question if you click here or type in http://wp.me/p2b82w-41A into your web browser.

So, here’s this week’s two-part informal poll question: “what is your favorite genre to read on your Kindle?” Let us know in the comments section just below this post and give us some commentary / details behind your answer as you see fit!

I’ll start it off: I like a lot of things, but over the past year I seem to have been on a science fiction and mystery phase, with a heavy emphasis on the science fiction.

What about you? Please answer away in the comments section below this post on the blog’s website. If you are reading this post on your e-Ink Kindle or received the post via email, you can always see this week’s poll question if you click here or type in http://wp.me/p2b82w-41A into your web browser.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

Michael Gallagher

Romance, be it paranormal, romantic suspense, historical, contemporary, erotic or any of the sub genre's in between. As a note on my erotic reading, I find that I try to steer clear of it just being sex scenes chained together. The erotic romance must have a plot! A great example of erotic romance with plot would be Olivia Cunning's Sinners on Tour series or Colette Gale's Jane in the Jungle serial series. Both have excellent plot lines, but also really steamy love scenes too!

My reading interests are pretty far-reaching, but my number one favorite on my Kindle is science fiction. Following in my father's footsteps, I started reading the big names in this genre back in the 50's – Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke, et al. I graduated to the new wave authors in the late 60's. These days, I enjoy the new self-published authors who have resurrected the style and substance of the old masters.

Always read Greg Iles, Lee Child (Jack Reacher), Michael Connelly. Pleased to see that Kindle has released old favorite: Five Smooth Stones by Ann Fairbain (civil rights). Haven't read in a long time but picking up on horror classics: Full Dark No Stars by Stephen King and Phantom by Dean Kootz. I guess I got a little carried away but if anyone is looking for anything new. Also love Suzanne Kearsley and Sarah Jio. And always Pat Conroy. I also have appreciated Michael's reviews of new authors I probably would not have tried.

So, who writes all of these posts to the blog? A gray-haired guy in Texas named Michael Gallagher who doesn’t blog full-time but blogs as a hobby.

The Kindle Books and Tips blog has a simple purpose: to provide an interactive blog where you will receive tips to maximize your Kindle experience.
