Silent Screams Free Today from Amazon

November 30, 2010 by Michael Gallagher

Silent Screams by C.E. Lawrence is free today from the Amazon Kindle store, and has received an average user rating of 4 out of 5 stars based on 6 customer reviews.  You can pick up your free copy by clicking here.

Here is the book’s description from the Amazon website:

A Deranged Killer’s Twisted Urges

In the streets of New York City, the Slasher chooses his victim–and makes his move. As he wraps his fingers around the girl’s pretty throat, his power increases. As he carves into her skin, his words become flesh. As he arranges her lifeless body in a loving tableau, his fantasies demand new, more violent sacrifices. . .

A Profiler’s Cunning Plan

At first, NYPD detectives suspect a jealous boyfriend. But criminal profiler Lee Campbell senses something darker, even ritualistic, about the murder. More chilling, he’s convinced he’s witnessing the genesis of a full-blown serial killer. But time is running out. A new victim has been chosen. Campbell must search the most terrifying recesses of the human mind–and his own past–before the screaming starts again. . .

C.E. Lawrence is the byline of a New York-based suspense writer, performer, and prize-winning playwright whose previous books have been praised as “lively. . .” (Publishers Weekly); “constantly absorbing. . .” (starred Kirkus Review); and “superbly crafted prose” (Boston Herald).

Once Bitten Free Today from Amazon

November 30, 2010 by Michael Gallagher

Once Bitten by Claire Willis is free today from the Amazon Kindle store, and has received an average user rating of 4 out of 5 stars based on 9 customer reviews.  You can pick up your free copy by clicking here.

Here is the book’s description from the Amazon website:

Is it more than just a one-bite stand?

Angie McCaffrey has endured her share of liquid lunches and boardroom shmoozefests to win new advertising clients. But her latest account–a cosmetics line for wannabe vampires–involves some unusual customer research at San Francisco’s hippest private nightclub. The “undead” patrons are about as genuine as Macabre Factor’s press-on fangs, but one thing is very real–the skin-tingling connection Angie feels with her clients’ mysterious friend, Eric Taylor.

Still, there are a few problems with this hot new romance. 1) Eric is rumored to have dated Angie’s scheming boss, Lucy. 2) Lucy, missing for days, just turned up dead and bloodless. And, oh yeah, 3) Angie has suddenly developed a teeny aversion to sunlight. Is Eric a real vampire, a killer, or both? Angie’s got a lot riding on the answer–her heart, her life, and maybe even her soul. . .

“Clare Willis offers a clever twist on the world of vampires.”–Alexandra Ivy, author of Darkness Unleashed

Huckleberry Finished Free Today from Amazon

November 30, 2010 by Michael Gallagher

Huckleberry Finished by Livia J. Washburn is free today from the Amazon Kindle store, and has received an average user rating of 4 out of 5 stars based on 8 customer reviews.  You can pick up your free copy by clicking here.

Here is the book’s description from the Amazon website:

Delilah Dickinson’s literary travel agency is a hit! And now, after an alarmingly lively tour through the Old South of Gone with the Wind, she’s ready to embark on a leisurely steamboat trip down the Mississippi, a la Huckleberry Finn. But when one of her passengers winds up dead, Delilah reckons she’ll have to get to the bottom of this downright ornery mystery. . ..

Ain’t no doubt about it: Ben Webster was murdered, broken neck and all. And, as it turns out, he caused quite a ruckus and made a few enemies before he expired by trying to slug a roulette dealer. Delilah knows the steamship’s no-nonsense head of security definitely is dirty and low-down and just plain old mean. . .but could he be a murderer? It’s all enough to make her wish she was floating lazily down the Mississippi with Huck and Jim, mainly.

But when someone breaks into and searches her cabin, Delilah is fixin’ to do some seriously sly sleuthing into all of this foolishness. Pretty soon her list of suspects is longer than the Mississippi is wide. . .not to mention she’s taken quite a shine to Mark Twain himself–or rather Mark Lansing, the handsome actor playing Huck Finn’s scribe for the tour.

But of course things just ain’t never what they seem when Delilah’s at the helm, and one tricky murder turns into two and things start to get pretty dicey on yonder steamboat. Thankfully Delilah’s sassy daughter Melissa is only a phone call away because she’ll need all the help she can get to keep the boat and it’s passengers from an ending that could only be described as. . .explosive!

Livia J. Washburn has been a professional writer for more than twenty years. She received the Private Eye of America Award and the American Mystery Award for her first mystery, Wild Night. She is also the author of Frankly My Dear, I’m Dead, the first book in her Literary Tour mystery series. She lives in Azle, Texas.
